Was oben stehen muss

A medical assistant resume leads with the certification written the way its issuer writes it, such as CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT), and the kind of practice you work in. Then it shows both halves of the job, clinical work (rooming, vitals, injections, blood draws) and front-office work (scheduling, insurance, prior authorizations), each with the patient volume behind it. Name the EHR you use, because clinics hire for the system they already run.

Warum dieses Beispiel funktioniert

  • The credential appears the way its issuer writes it, CMA (AAMA), so a reader knows which certifying body stands behind it and a search for either form finds it.
  • Both halves of the job are on the page: rooming, blood draws and vaccines in the current role, check-in, insurance and scheduling in the earlier one. Many outpatient postings ask for both.
  • Every bullet carries a patient count or a rate, the numbers a practice manager already watches, such as no-shows and charts ready before the visit.
  • Spanish is listed as a language because in a Phoenix clinic it changes how many patients can be roomed without waiting for an interpreter.

Kurzprofile

  • New graduate, externship only

New medical assisting graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program (2026) with the CMA (AAMA) exam scheduled for July. Completed a 160-hour externship at an urgent care clinic, rooming up to 15 patients a day by the final week and performing 40 supervised venipunctures. BLS certified.

The externship is the experience. Give the setting, the hours and the patient count you reached at the end, and put the exam date in the first sentence.

  • Specialty clinic medical assistant

Registered medical assistant, RMA (AMT), with six years in a dermatology practice, assisting three providers with biopsies, excisions and cryotherapy. Turns procedure rooms over in under 10 minutes and handles prior authorizations for biologic medications, 85% of them approved on the first request.

A specialty changes the keywords. Name the procedures you assist with and the paperwork that comes with them, such as prior authorizations.

  • Lead medical assistant or clinic supervisor

Lead medical assistant with 12 years in outpatient care, supervising 9 MAs across two internal medicine clinics. Wrote the MA onboarding and competency checklist, which cut the time for a new hire to reach a full patient load from 8 weeks to 5, and runs the screening outreach that raised colorectal screening rates from 58% to 71%.

Lead roles are judged on the team and the clinic's numbers: onboarding time, staffing, quality measures. One of each belongs in the summary.

Medical assistant certifications

Employers often ask for a national certification, and some postings name the ones they accept. Write the credential the way its issuer does, with the year, and put BLS beside it. Anything your state issues on top, such as a permit for a specific task, gets its own line in the state's wording.

  • CMA (AAMA)

The American Association of Medical Assistants' credential. The exam is open to students and graduates of medical assisting programs accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, among a few other routes. Name the credential exactly as "CMA (AAMA)"; while you wait, write the exam date.

Ausgestellt von American Association of Medical Assistants

  • RMA (AMT)

American Medical Technologists' credential, reached through an accredited medical assisting program of at least 720 hours with a 160-hour externship, through three years of work as a medical assistant within the past seven, or through military medical training, among other routes. Write it as "RMA (AMT)".

    Ausgestellt von American Medical Technologists

  • CCMA

Another national medical assistant certification. List it with the issuer and the month you earned it, and check the posting, since some employers name the certifications they accept.

Ausgestellt von National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

  • BLS

Red Cross BLS can be taken fully in person or blended, with online work followed by an in-person skills session, and the certification is good for two years. Give the month it runs out.

Ausgestellt von American Red Cross, among other providers

  • Keeping the CMA (AAMA) current

The credential has to be recertified every 60 months, either by continuing education or by passing the exam again. If yours is up for renewal soon, write "current through" and the month so nobody wonders whether it has lapsed.

ATS Pro. Health systems and larger clinic groups hire medical assistants through online applications, and ATS Pro keeps all of its text in one reading column that those systems parse in order. Its skill tags suit a job whose skills split into clinical and front-office work, and the dark header gives the page some polish for the practice manager who reads it next. Fragen zum Lebenslauf: Medical Assistant

What should I put on a medical assistant resume?

Your certification and BLS, the type of practice you have worked in, clinical duties with patient volumes, front-office duties with the systems you used, and a result or two such as fewer no-shows or faster rooming. Education goes after experience once you have a year of paid MA work; before that, the program and externship go first.

What are the top 3 strengths of a medical assistant?

Clinical accuracy, keeping the day's schedule moving, and putting patients at ease. On a resume each one needs evidence: a low redraw rate, a shorter check-in-to-provider time, a language you speak with patients. Words like "detail-oriented" on their own add nothing.

What hard skills should a medical assistant list?

Rooming and vitals, venipuncture, EKGs, injections, point-of-care testing and assisting with procedures on the clinical side; scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations and coding basics on the administrative side. Add every EHR you have used, since postings often name one.

How do I write a medical assistant resume with no experience?

Put the program, the graduation date and the certification or exam date at the top. Write the externship as a job with the clinic type, hours, patient count and the procedures you performed. Customer service or reception work goes below it, framed around the front-office skills a clinic needs.

Do I need to be certified to get a medical assistant job?

Not always, but it depends on your state and your employer, and many postings ask for or prefer a national certification. If you are not certified yet, write the exam you are taking and the month, so the recruiter sees it is on its way.
