Was oben stehen muss

An entry-level resume opens with a summary that names the degree you just finished and the job you are applying for, then puts your most relevant experience straight under it, whether that was an internship, a co-op or a part-time job. Once you have one internship to show, education moves below experience, and the bullets describe results at work rather than coursework. Keep it to one page and use the posting's job title, word for word, in the summary.

Warum dieses Beispiel funktioniert

  • Experience sits above education. The degree still opens the summary, but with a summer internship in the same field, the internship is what a hiring manager wants to read first.
  • The part-time warehouse job ran for nearly three school years at 15 hours a week, and the dates and hours make the point about reliability without a sentence claiming it.
  • The capstone has its own projects section because its result is a number a distributor would care about, not a grade.
  • The summary names the two job titles being applied for, logistics analyst and operations coordinator, because those are the exact words an applicant system is set to find.

Kurzprofile

Beispiele für das Kurzprofil für jede Situation: Entry-Level

Derselbe Lebenslauf beginnt anders, je nachdem, wo Sie starten. Ein Kurzprofil für jeden Fall, und womit es beginnt.

  • Graduate with part-time jobs, no internship

Communications graduate (Temple University, 2026) who worked 20 hours a week through college as a shift lead at a coffee chain, scheduling a team of eight and training every new hire. Applying for entry-level account coordinator and client services roles in Philadelphia.

Without an internship, the longest-held job carries the page. Pull out the parts that match an office role, such as scheduling, training and handling complaints, and name them in the summary.

  • Associate degree or certificate program graduate

Recent graduate of the two-year paralegal studies program at Miami Dade College, with a 120-hour internship at a public defender's office drafting discovery requests and indexing case files. Looking for an entry-level paralegal or legal assistant position.

A two-year program is judged on its hands-on hours. Put the practicum or internship hours in the first sentence, together with the kind of office where you did them.

  • A year or more out of school, still looking

Biology graduate (Ohio State University, 2025) working full time since graduation as a veterinary assistant, handling intake for 25 to 30 patients a day and running in-house lab tests. Applying for entry-level laboratory technician or research assistant positions.

After a year, what you did in that year comes first, even if it sits outside your field. A job held since graduation answers the question a reader would otherwise ask about the gap.

Kenntnisse

Kenntnisse für den Lebenslauf: an entry-level

Entry-level postings ask for fewer tools than they seem to: mostly office software plus one or two systems specific to the job. Say where you used each one, such as NetSuite at a part-time job or SAP in a course, because a hiring manager reads a skill learned at work as stronger than one from a syllabus.

  • Google Docs and Sheets

  • Worked as a server during college.

Served 35 to 50 guests a shift at a 120-seat restaurant for three years while in school, and trained six new servers on the ordering system and section rotation.

  • Completed an internship in accounting.

Reconciled 60 vendor accounts a month during a summer accounts payable internship and cleared a backlog of 140 unmatched invoices before the quarterly close.

  • Capstone project on customer retention.

Analyzed two years of membership data for a local gym with a four-person capstone team; the gym acted on our finding with a welcome call, and first-month cancellations fell from 18% to 11%.

  • Answered customer questions at a call center.

Took 50 to 70 calls a day on a utility company's billing line as a part-time agent and kept a 4.6 out of 5 customer survey score over 14 months.

  • Resident assistant in a dorm.

Looked after 42 first-year students as a resident assistant, ran 12 floor events a year and settled roommate conflicts with the residence director, with no room transfers requested in two years.

Über die Erfahrung hinaus

What carries an entry-level resume besides job history

A first full-time job tends to go to the applicant who looks easiest to train, and that impression comes from a handful of sections. Fill the ones you can with dates and results. An empty heading hurts more than a missing one.

  • Internships and co-ops

List them under experience, not education, with the same kind of bullets as any job. A co-op of six months or more is often the strongest single line a new graduate has.

  • Capstone or senior project

Give it a title, the team size, the client if there was one, and the result. A project done for a real business or nonprofit belongs near the top of the page.

  • Part-time and summer jobs

Keep every job you held for six months or longer, even outside your field. Hours a week and years held show you can keep a schedule, and that is most of what an employer is checking in a new graduate.

  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour card

Some warehouse, manufacturing and construction employers ask for one. The class ends with a course completion card, and OSHA states that none of its Outreach courses is a certification, so list it under training, as in "OSHA 10-Hour General Industry", with the month you finished.

Ausgestellt von U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Outreach Training Program)

  • Honors and GPA

Dean's list, scholarships and a GPA of 3.5 or above can stay for the first year after graduation. After a year of full-time work they stop adding anything and can go.

Vorlage

Welche Vorlage für den Lebenslauf: an entry-level

Basic. Most entry-level jobs are posted on job boards and filled through an applicant system, often at employers you have never dealt with. Basic is a single plain column with standard headings, which is what that software reads most reliably, and it leaves room for an internship, a part-time job and a capstone on one page. Of our layouts, it is the one you can download free with no watermark on it.

Fragen zum Lebenslauf: Entry-Level

How do I write an entry-level resume?

Start with a two-sentence summary naming your degree and the job you want. Put your most relevant experience next, internships included, with two or three result bullets each, then education, a projects section if you have a strong one, and a skills line with the tools the posting names. Tailor the summary and skills to each posting and keep everything on one page.

What can I put on a resume if I have no experience?

Anything you did regularly and can describe with a result: part-time or seasonal work, a capstone or class project, volunteering, a campus leadership role, caring for family members, freelance or gig work. Write each one as a job, with dates and bullets, and add training or certifications the posting asks for.

Should education go before experience on an entry-level resume?

Put education first only while it is your strongest qualification, for example when you graduated this year and have no internship. As soon as you have an internship, a co-op or a year of work related to the job, experience goes on top and education drops to a two-line entry below it.

What are common mistakes on an entry-level resume?

An objective about what you hope to gain, a long list of soft skills with no proof, coursework in place of results, a two-page layout for one year of work, and an unprofessional email address. The most expensive one is sending the same resume everywhere: the summary and skills should change with every posting.
