Questions about tailoring your CV

What does it mean to tailor a resume to a job description?

It means rewriting and reordering what your CV already says so the posting's requirements are easy to find: using the employer's words for things you did, putting the most relevant experience first and leading with the skills the job asks for. The facts stay the same.

Will the AI add experience or skills I do not have?

No. It only rewrites what is in your CV. Requirements you do not show are listed separately, and a skill is added only when you tick it yourself. Where a number would make a line stronger it writes [X] for you to fill in.

Should I tailor my CV for every application?

For the jobs you care about, yes. The same experience described in the posting's terms ranks higher in applicant tracking systems and is quicker for a recruiter to recognise. With a tailored copy per application your main CV stays untouched.

How do I find the keywords in a job posting?

Look at the requirements and the tools, qualifications and duties that repeat. The analysis does this for you: it lists which of the posting's requirements your CV already shows and which it does not, most important first.

Does tailoring change my main CV?

Only if you choose "Apply to this CV". You can also save the changes as a separate copy for that application, on the same template, and keep your main CV as it was.
