17 synonyms, and when to use each

A software engineer, a teacher and a sales rep can all start a bullet with "developed" and mean three different jobs, which is why the word says so little on its own. Pick the verb for the one you mean: built for software, designed for a program or curriculum, mentored for people, opened or grew for a territory.

When you built software or a product: synonyms for developed

The clearest verb for code, tools and models; name the stack.

Leave these in the thesaurus

Skip "evolved" and "matured"; both describe something that changed on its own, which is the opposite of the credit you want.

The one thing to remember

In a software role, "developed" is the job description, not an achievement; replace it with what shipped, on which stack, and what it changed for users.
