16 synonyms, and when to use each

"Helped" is a hedge. It says something good happened and you were somewhere nearby, without saying where. Replace it with the verb for your actual part — contributed, co-led, advised, trained — and if the part was small, say so plainly; a small, specific contribution reads better than a large, vague one.
